Our Process

Initial Consultation

When building a new home, the most asked question is “Where do we start?” Here at Hoying and Hoying Builders, Vince, our designer, and Paul and Chris, co-owners, cover this question as well as any other questions you may have during the initial client consultation. We find it helpful for clients to bring as much information as they can to us when meeting in person. This can range from floor plans, inspiration pictures, property information or wants/needs. All the information you can provide to us early on makes the process easier for you as the client and us as the builder. Any concerns you may have out the building process, time frame or cost are addressed during this first consultation. From here, we take all your information and hit the ground running to develop plans of your dream home.

Design

This is where the fun begins! Our in-house designer, Vince, begins designing your home. After preliminary designs, usually a floorplan and front elevation, are completed, you will be able to start envisioning your future home. With the use of electronic 3-D modeling, Megan, interior designer by trade, can create a one-of-a-kind experience so you can get a more realistic feel of home well before construction begins.

Documentation

Once you as the owner are satisfied with the plans, we meet once again to fill out a questionnaire that outlines all your wants and needs in your future house. We then send the prints and completed questionnaire to our trusted and experienced sub-contractors who develop quotes. We then pull the pricing together and create a detailed contract that outlines all the intricate elements of your home. This includes everything from the foundation and framing to the finer details of towel bars and mirrors. After the contract is agreed upon by you, the owner, and Hoying and Hoying Builders, both parties will sign the contract.

Details

After signing the contract, you will begin to work on their exterior selections with Megan. She will schedule an initial meeting in our office where samples of stone/brick, siding, roofing, etc. can be gathered based on your desired color scheme. She creates a 2-D rendering of your elevations with the specific colors and materials that are decided upon. Outside of the office, you will be asked to visit our plumbing fixture supplier’s showroom, where products can be viewed and tested. An additional meeting will be scheduled when framing begins to cover interior selections such as: interior doors, window trim, hardware, appliances, flooring, light fixtures, appliances, etc.

Construction

Depending on the size, location, and weather, it typically takes us around 6 to 9 months to complete your home. Before breaking ground, Paul and Chris Hoying, co-owners, will meet you at the property to determine the final location for your home. Once framing beings, Vince will create a construction schedule, and this will be sent out to you, the owner, and all the subcontractors involved in the building of your home. This will help to ensure all decisions are made on time by you as the owners and all the sub-contractors are on the same time schedule. Once all the framing has been completed, an on-site meeting will be held to review the mechanicals and cabinetry. Other on-site meetings will be scheduled for exterior concrete, shelving, exterior electrical, etc.

Closing

Before handing over the keys, a final walk-through of the house will be scheduled with you and Chris to be sure you are completely satisfied with your new home. After handing off the keys, we ask owners to give us a week to make any necessary repairs and give the home one final cleaning. After move-in, the mechanical company will schedule a walk-through of the home with you to instruct new owners on how to operate items such as water heaters, furnace/geo-thermal, sump pumps, etc.

Warranty

Hoying and Hoying Builders and their contractors stand behind the work they complete, which means all our homes come with a one-year warranty. At closing, a folder, designed specifically for each home, is presented to you that includes letter from Hoying and Hoying Builders that outlines every subcontractor that was involved in the build and their phone number and specific product warranty information.
